Califur '08 recap (Edit: con pics added)
Califur 2008 was pretty good, and I had an awesome time with my friends. I had ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif?v=92.1)
mad_meerkat and his friend Bloodhowl stay over at my place on Friday and Saturday evening. I saw a lot of friends, and am continuing to try and patch things up with Ian. It's a slow process, I guess, but we had dinner together, and that was good.
The new venue at the Hyatt Regency wasn't too swell. I think the real problem was that the hotel scheduled our event at the same time as several other major events, such as a beauty products convention, a swanky wedding, and a senior prom. I don't recall hotel staff ever being especially friendly to con-goers, at any con. Why would they be? They're just doing their job. At Califur 2008, I didn't experience any personal acts of overt rudeness from any of the hotel staff. All the problems with the venue were simply systemic of the scheduling issues; for the hotel liaison to schedule a prom, wedding, and fandom convention in the same place and time was unfair and scummy to all parties involved.
I got a pretty cool "$1 badge" from Schizowolf, and this super-cute, super-GAY badge from Kitsumi (my third from her). Everyone keeps telling me how fah-laaaaming I act in person (I really don't see it!), so I figured I might as well just run with it. Do you think that I act particularly, obviously gay in person? Please try to also consider how you might see me if you didn't already know that I love being ridden like a bull.
